Don’t miss the special return of Missy Higgins.
Missy Higgins has released the second track from her upcoming album – 'Second Act'.
The title track reflects on the next chapter of her life after her painful divorce.
Missy posted, "I’m sure the title speaks for itself in a way, but this song is about coming into the next phase of my life. A chapter that came on suddenly and unexpectedly and to be honest, I’m still kind of reeling at the shock of it all two years later. But when I wrote this song something had shifted ever so slightly inside me and I started to feel like I might be ready to let go of some things. Blame, pain and maybe even the illusion of control.
This entire album has been the result of suddenly finding myself two years ago as a single mum with two kids and trying to navigate so many excruciatingly hard emotions. The hardest one, I think, being shame. Shame of not living up to the societal ideal of what a successful life and family should look like. And shame of realising that I had obviously written a story for myself that was so deeply ingrained in me (probably since I was a child) that it was going to take a very long time to unpick.
Stories are a big theme of this new album."
The album 'Second Act' will drop on September 6th which is also the 20th anniversary date of her debut album 'Sound of White'.
Missy will be at the Perth Concert Hall on April 18th,19th, and 20th with her Second Act Tour with limited tickets still available.
The special two-act show will kick off with the first set including some brand-new songs, plus a few fan favourites from early in her career, all played in stripped-back, acoustic mode.
After an intermission Missy will then return with her full band to perform The Sound of White in its entirety, plus some of her other hits.
