A 10-metre mythical glowing creature adorned with crystal shards is set to feature in the City of Kwinana's OMG! Festival.

This year, the festival has evolved from its fringe roots into a multi-day, multi-venue celebration of light, art, and culture.

The festival will kick off with Get in the Grove, a two-night event taking place on Friday, November 8, and Saturday, November 9, from 6pm to 9pm at The Grove, nestled between the City of Kwinana Administration Building and Koorliny Arts Centre.

The space will be transformed into a night-time setting, featuring festoon lighting, outdoor furniture, a host of food trucks and a pop-up bar.

A major highlight will be The Guardian, the huge mythical creature which will roam through the festival.

The evening will also feature five larger-than-life flamingo puppets and LED acrobatic performers and stilt-walkers along with acoustic music from Hannah and Palle on Friday and the Blackbird Duo on Saturday.

The festival continues the following weekend with the Wellard Street Festival, celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Wellard Square on Saturday, November 16, from 6pm to 9pm.

The Strand will be illuminated by interactive light installations designed by Lux Events, roving LED acrobats and an LED hula-hoop workshop.

Attendees can enjoy live street performances from Ricochet Circus, participate in a Circus Game Show, or explore the market stalls.

“With the OMG! Festival expanding, it’s a perfect opportunity for the community to come together, engage with exciting performances, and celebrate local culture," City of Kwinana Mayor Peter Feasey said.

“The festival’s new format promises captivating light-themed entertainment for all ages, transforming Kwinana’s streets and open spaces into hubs of creativity and fun.”
