A 29-year-old man has been charged after allegedly lighting a scrub fire in Rockingham.
The man allegedly walked into bushland near Val Street and The Esplanade around 4am on January 5 and set fire to vegetation before running from the area.
Luckily, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread.
"Strike Force Vulcan officers with the assistance of Rockingham Police and the Rockingham Shire, were able to locate and identify the accused," a WA Police spokesperson said.
The Rockingham man has been charged with breach of duty and is next due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on February 23.
