The Mandurah Netball Association are calling on the City of Mandurah and the State Government to help fund much needed upgrades to their Thomson Street netball courts.

The association has been forced to close three of their ten courts due to the surface cracking and warping, making them unsafe to play on.

Association president Leah Mansfield said they have had to change their playing days and times to accommodate all games.

"Our ten courts facility is already too small to service our needs, to now have that reduced to only seven courts is devastating," she said.

"At the moment we are not able to grow our competition in any way, shape or form."

Ms Mansfield has started an online petition urging the City of Mandurah and the State Government to help fund major upgrades to the facility, but she said what they really need is a brand new purpose-built netball facility

"At the top end we need a new facility, but in the short term some major repairs and upgrades to our current facilities," Ms Mansfield said.

"Obviously being a women's sport sometimes we feel like we're left a little bit behind, but we're no less important than any other sport being played in our community, so we would just love it if everyone can get behind us and hopefully we can get something moving sooner rather than later."
