A 27-year-old Port Kennedy man has been charged following an alleged machete attack outside an Applecross hotel which left a teenager with a severed hand.
The West Australian reports the alleged attack occurred around 3.15am at the Canning Bridge Auto Lodge on Sleat Road on June 15.
The 19-year-old victim was attacked after he spoke with a group of people inside a car near Helm Street
Police said as the victim was walking away when he was allegedly set upon by one of the vehicles occupants who was armed with a machete.
The victim was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance for emergency surgery.
Police charged the 27-year-old man with grievous bodily harm, common assault and being armed in a way that may cause fear.
He will front the Fremantle Magistrates Court today.
