A Shoalwater woman is facing some serious charges after allegedly damaging a speed camera.

The 36-year-old woman was allegedly driving a Honda sedan along Rockingham Road in Hope Valley last week when she was detected travelling more than 20km/h over the speed limit by a mobile speed camera.

"The woman allegedly returned to the camera location and used a mallet to cause significant damage to the glass protection screen of the camera," a WA Police spokesperson said.

The woman was later arrested at her home in Shoalwater.

"As a result of further inquiries, officers ascertained the woman had allegedly been involved in an incident in Lake Coogee on Monday 11 September, during which she caused significant damage to a garage door, using her vehicle," the WA Police spokesperson said.

The woman has been charged with two counts of criminal damage or destruction of property, one count of exceeding the speed limit between 20 and 29km/h and one count of failing to stop - property damage.

She is due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court on October 9, 2023.
