Local skippers are set to benefit from a State Government grant that will be used to upgrade a Coodanup boat ramp.
A total of seven projects, from Derby to Bunbury, secured funding in the latest round of the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme (RBFS).
The City of Mandurah received the second largest grant of $678,750 to upgrade the boat ramp at Birchley Road and replace the existing timber jetty with a floating jetty.
The City of Bunbury was also given a $69,000 grant which will go toward a detailed design and approval of a ramp upgrade at Pelican Point.
"With the arrival of summer, this is great news for the more than 100,000 owners of recreational vessels in WA and also for the significantly larger number of people who enjoy getting out on the water," Minister Assisting the Transport Minister David Michael said.
"The past 18 months have seen major reform of safety equipment requirements and the introduction of stronger drug and alcohol laws for recreational skippers in WA."
The RBFS, which commenced in 1998, is partly funded from boat registration fees.
