Tributes are flowing for a 24-year-old man who died in a horrific crash in Wandi.

Nathaniel James Fussell was driving a white Holden Commodore on Monday afternoon when the vehicle hit a concrete median strip at the Kwinana Freeway off-ramp at Rowley Road.

The car became airborne for at least 90-metres before smashing into a retaining wall near Bindarri Grove.

Both Nathaniel and his 29-year-old male passenger died at the scene.

Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash.

Detective Senior Sergeant Adam Matson said the crash scene was "horrific".

“It obviously has a rippling effect not only on the family and friends of those young gentlemen who have lost their lives but also on those first responders who have to attend,” he said.

Nathaniel's mother Gena Fussell posted a tribute to her son via social media.

"RIP my darling son," she wrote in a Facebook post.

"You made me a mother and I will forever be grateful.

"I really have no words right now my darling except that you will always be in my heart. Your sudden passing has truly left so many people broken.

"I will love you forever my son."

Nathaniel, who is believed to be from the Mandurah area, was on bail after allegedly attacking a man outside RAC Arena following a Luke Combs concert in August.

He was yet to enter a plea to a grievous bodily harm charge.
